Back button for application & onboarding steps

Allowing candidates to navigate back through steps in your onboarder

The Onboarder in foundU has many steps and will have various components in each. As candidates progress through this process, they may need to add information in earlier steps after navigating past a certain step.

In this case, you may want to enable the setting that allows candidates to do this.

This article will cover:

  • How do I know if my candidates can navigate back? - The different Onboarding views
  • Enabling/disabling the back button in your Onboarding experience.

The different onboarding views

You may be unsure whether this functionality is currently enabled on your platform. The easiest way to check is to select a pending employee and 'Login as xx employee'. This will bring you to their onboarding experience. As long as the employee is not on Step 1, you'll be able to see the back button.

View with the back button enabled

  • Candidates will be able to navigate backwards to previous steps if they have missed inputting any information.

View without the back button enabled

  • Candidates will not be able to navigate back to any previous steps without contacting an admin.

Enabling the back button in your onboarding experience

If you would like to change the setting on your platform that allows candidates to return to a previous step, you can do so by enabling the relevant setting. You can, of course, turn this off at any time, should you wish for candidates not navigate back.

To access this setting to enable it:

  1. Go to the main menu > Platform settings > System settings.
  2. Ctrl + F to search to locate the setting 'Allow employees who are onboarding to go back steps' and enable the toggle.
  3. Scroll to the bottom to Save Settings.

The back button will now appear. This can be changed at any time without any data loss from your Onboarding experience.
