Export employee pay data directly from your payslips for review
One of the many ways to check your pay data is to use the Payroll > Pay page's pay data export.
This export can be used for both Draft and Generated payslips, making it a valuable tool for various use cases, such as:
- Checking a payslip before generating
- Creating a custom report
- Auditing employees
- Comparing generated payslips across multiple periods to check variances
Additionally, the pay data export allows you to choose the data you want to view and save your chosen options as a template for quick and easy future use!

If you're tired of examining each payslip separately or are proficient with Excel, you can export your employees' pay data in bulk directly to CSV.
This excellent pre-payroll review step allows you to check payslips and pay data before generating draft payslips. This will help ensure that employees receive accurate pay.
This feature is not limited to just draft payslips; you can also export payslips that have been generated. Exporting these payslips is helpful if you want to create an audit trail or check for any differences in employee pay for each pay period.
Hot tip: If you have any Blocked draft payslips, you can still select and export their pay data to review.
To export your payroll data:
- Navigate to Payroll > Pay.
- From this page, select either:
- Draft payslips - For pre-payroll checking.
- Generated payslips - For exporting payslips paid to employees.
- Select the employees you want to export the pay data for. This can be by:
- Selecting employees individually - Useful if only a few employees need to be exported.
- Selecting all employees - Used to export all employees, no matter how many are shown on the page.
- Selecting all employees on page - This will export all employees shown on the screen.
- This will open a taskbar, select Download > CSV.
- Then select the relevant fields to export; the categories available are:
- Once you have chosen the relevant options, select Export CSV. You will be notified once your file is ready.
Export Options
Here is an extensive list of options for your consideration. We encourage you to take the time to review these choices and select the most suitable and effective export for your business.
Warning: You may notice 2 options related to employee earnings. Taxable Total appears in payslips for FY 22/23 and earlier, while Gross Pay is used for periods thereafter.
Once you have selected the combination of export options you would like to use, saving them for future use is a good idea. This way, you can quickly export your pay data at any time without having to reselect your desired options each time you export.
Hot tip: Your saved export options are unique to you as a user. If you want to share these selections with your team, we recommend sending a screenshot so they can replicate your choices.
To save your chosen export options:
- Under Export Options select Additional Options.
- Select your export options and provide a description to save. Select Save.
- You'll find all of your saved search preferences under the 'Load saved search' drop-down.
- Select your saved search option to pre-load your previously saved export options and select Export CSV to export.
