Employee operation exclusions and exclusives

Roster employees exclusively to, or exclude them from, an operation's rosters

Over time, you might want certain employees to work at just one Operation, or you might need to prevent them from working at a specific Operation. To make rostering easier, you can mark employees as exclusive to or excluded from particular Operations in their profiles. This ensures their shifts only appear on the right rosters.

Some common reasons to use this feature include:

  • A client prefers certain employees to work for them exclusively

  • A client has requested that a specific employee not work for them

This feature is especially handy for labour hire customers, where employees often work across multiple Operations and rosters. Marking them as exclusive or excluded is a quick and simple way to manage their assignments—without having to manually adjust each roster’s locations.

In this article, we will cover:

  • Making your employee exclusive to an Operation
  • Excluding your employees from specific Operations

Employees marked as Exclusive or Excluded for an Operation will appear blocked on rosters for other Operations. Learn more about how this works here.

Operation exclusives

Setting an employee's profile as Operation Exclusive controls where your employees can be rostered. Marking someone as exclusive to an Operation ensures they will only be rostered to shifts for rosters associated with that Operation.

For example:

If Macy is set as Exclusive to Caffeine Express Milton, she will be blocked and cannot have shifts published for any roster under Caffeine Express Clayfield Operation — preventing any accidental rostering outside her assigned Operation.

To make an employee Operation Exclusive:

  1. Navigate to the Employee Profile > Employee Card > Details.
  2. Select the Edit (pencil) icon to edit the employee's details and navigate to the Additional Information tab.
  3. In the Operation Exclusive field, select the Operations from the dropdown you would like this employee to be Exclusive to.
  4. To apply your changes, select Save.

Hot tip: Consider leaving a comment on the Employee's Profile, explaining why you are making this change; this will ensure that others in your business know this change was intentional.

Operation exclusions

Setting an employee's profile to exclude an Operations will prevent an employee from having shifts published for any rosters associated with the excluded Operation. Employees with Operation exclusion will appear in a blocked state when adding them to any roster they are excluded from.

For example:

If Aimee has an Operation Exclusion for Caffiene Express Albion, she will be blocked and cannot have shifts published for any roster under Caffiene Express Albion.

To exclude an employee from an Operation:

  1. Navigate to the Employee Profile > Employee Card > Operation Exclusions.
  2. Select the Operation Exclusion tab, and complete the following details:
    • Add Operation - Select the Operations from the dropdown that you would like this employee excluded from.
    • Excluded Positions - Specify the position to be excluded. This field is available after you have selected your Operation.
  3. To apply your changes, select Save.

Hot tip: Consider leaving a comment on the Employee's Profile and Operation, explaining why you are making this change; this will ensure that others in your business know this change was intentional.
